Choosing the correct Resin-X for your application

Resin-X has a much faster pot life than epoxy. Unlike epoxy ResinX does not like to go off in mass form. By maintaining volume in your mixed container you can achieve a longer pot life. Viscosity can advance to 2000 cps and the product is still workable. However, best results are based on the use of the product between 600-1000 cps. Viscosity and pot life can be lengthened and lowered by adding Xylene. If you’re interested in testing Resin-X we suggest starting your evaluation with the slow formula.

Resin-X Fast

Resin-X fast is a great utility resin for applications where products need to be dry to the touch in 30 minutes. Installation fixtures, repairs, construction, RTM applications, and flipping parts quick is what Resin-X fast is all about. Tinting resin-x fast with tints with small amounts of water in it will even make it go off faster. Pot life can very between 9-14 minutes. Because of the speed of Resin-X fast it is advised to try resin-X slow first.

Resin-X slow

Resin-X slow is most popular speed of Resin-X. It is just slow enough to manage in most applications and faster than most epoxies. Resin-X slow has a 15-25 minute pot life. Dry to the touch in one to two hours. Larger projects can be done with multiple batches. Although we do have people who vacuum bag with slow, you do not pull as much resin out as you would with a low viscosity epoxy. For those applications we suggest resin-X extra slow.

Resin-X Extra-slow

Resin-X Extra-slow; when we first came out with Resin-X many people were scared to use it because of the speed. Resin-X Extra-slow has a realistic pot life of 30-35 minutes. The NEW Extra-slow formula is great for those who want to vacuum bag, use the product on large surfaces, or if they feel better about learning a new product at there own pace. For example Resin-X can be used as an industrial floor coating for broadcast systems or where excellent UV, chemical resistance, and early foot traffic is needed than what an epoxy cannot provide. With Resin-X slow you would not want to do a floor larger than 5000sqft. At this point Resin-X extra- slow is a much better option for both recoat window reasons and workability. Even objects as small as a long surfboard are much easier with Resin-X Extra-Slow.
